Born and raised in Southern California I started my interest in the arts at a early age. I embraced my artist journey even more in high school while attending a performing arts high school. I continued my studies of the arts into college. In 2013 I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Arts and a minor in advertising and marketing. At the end of my college career I found myself asking the question more " Where is the representation of my people or those that look like myself and my family?" And how can I create work that is both unique, empowering and spark conversations. From this very question sparked the creation of Afrocentric Keyy!
Now residing in New York City I have developed a knack for expressing myself thru vibrant use of color and creativity. Having the opportunity to travel; both national and internationally with my my artwork; has opened new door of opportunity and growth as a artist. I consider myself a eco-conscious visual artist creating unique pieces of artwork that both inspires others and captures the elegant moments in life; portraying beauty and strength. I am inspired by nature and life fusing the human, animal and organic plant form to make up a one of a kind portrait. I speak with my paint strokes on wood, unlocking the doors to a new way of combining floral, animal and figurative images. My goal is to provide positive imagery that is both soft yet strong and challenging. Afrocentric Keyy has become more that just a name or business, it has become who I am; I am Afrocentric Keyy.
